Folio is a board for the Mac where a whole project fits on one sheet. Notes, photos, videos, links and drawings, side by side. Half a megabyte, built only with what macOS already has, and no account: your boards stay on your Mac.

Paste it in Terminal. Folio goes to Applications and opens. Other ways

Version 0.4, early preview · 530 KB · macOS 14 or later · Free

A Folio board with notes, a cobalt colour swatch, a checklist, a sub-board, a photo and a video

Drop anything. Photos and videos from Finder or Safari. Links from Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram or X arrive with their picture.

Write, tick, draw. Notes that grow as you type, to-do lists, and a pen that draws on top of everything.

Boards inside boards. Open one and it grows out of its card. Undo goes back through all of it.

Other ways to install

  1. Download the disk image (Folio.dmg) and drag Folio to Applications.
  2. The first time you open it, macOS says it can’t check who made it. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and press Open Anyway. Only once.
  3. The Terminal line above skips that step: what Terminal downloads isn’t marked as coming from a browser. You can read the script first at install.sh.
